Aborting abortion

A person's right(s) end where another begins. This principle upon which our Constitution was built and formulated, was designed to protect the rights of all people. We understand that here are certain inalienable rights given to us by our Creator, however these rights are not guaranteed to be granted or protected by the laws of man. Because of this, controversy arises, as well as a chance to come together and reason with one another. The issue of abortion extends beyond a woman's right to do with her body as she pleases, and reaches into the realm of denying the very gift given to mankind...life.

As a pro life advocate I believe that under no circumstances should a child be aborted. And that abortion only serves to rob this world of a potentially great individual, and their impact in the world. Every child, despite the conditions in which they come into this world, is a gift from God. Their lives and contributions have been predestined and ordained by Him. Imagine what our world would be like today if some of the greatest people in history were aborted. Thomas Edison, invented the light bulb; Alexander Fleming (and Jonas Salk), discovered penicillin and Martin Luther King, who fought for equality. Their accomplishments are not only world known but were life changing for generations to come. If they had been aborted, and consider yourself as well, there would be such a tremendous void in this world. Give the same opportunity and right that you enjoy today...life.

In understanding our responsibility to preserve life, we become better equipped to choose wisely and in a manner that is not detrimental but beneficial to mankind. This blog is set up so that I may hear your opinion on this issue. Feel free to speak candidly but please be respectful to others.

  1. Mr. Banner,

It seems that we hold nearly the exact same view point concerning abortion, making it rather difficult for me to make a counter argument. However, let me play the devil's advocate, and make the most convincing pro-abortion (anti-life) argument that I've heard to date.

Consider what class of people are the most likely to have an abortion. They are typically low income single females, who if they had the child, that child wouldn't have a fair shot at life to begin with, and would likely wind up either living a life of poverty, or a life of crime. As such, isn't society better off having these burdens removed from existence rather than support them via welfare, or through the criminal justice system?

A very abbreviated version of the argument made in the book "Freakonomics".

  2. I agree that every child deserves to be born. If you don't want to raise the child, then give it up for adoption. A persons actions or circumstances, should not reflect on the decision, of whether or not the child should be born. It is only in our so-called modern way of thinking, that we believe it is the right to abort an unborn child. Who do we think we are? God? Oh yeah. We don't believe in God in this country. We've taken any reference to God or Jesus out of the public arena. And we wonder why things are wrong in this country?

    1. I, like yourself Mr. Dane, believe this (God) is the major component that has been taken out of the equation. Now this thing is so misconstrued and is begging to be answered. Yet instead of swallowing our pride and admitting we're wrong, we rather place the blame on something else and look for the easy way out despite who gets hurt...to include ourselves. It's funny, in a satirical way, that many will say they don't believe in God but when tragedy hits the premiere question arises of "Why did God let this happen?"

I don't believe that they should be removed because everyone deserves a chance at life. Most of these low income single females are having babies with the assumption that welfare is the hot new thing; not understanding the value of hard work...Also, most of them are living the same life that they grew up in and the life that they are accustom too.
    BUT
I must say it’s quite annoying to have to work hard every day just to survive knowing the Shanequia, N Em' can kick back, chill, and have everything handed to them...

    1. God desires to bless us in such a way that we are a blessing to others. I don't mind that the money I pay in taxes are used to help those that need some assistance as 1.) I don't handle that money personally and 2.) I'm blessed in such a way that it doesn't effect my style of living. I understand the point you made concerning the mentality of those that are taking advantage of the system however, when you consider that you have to ask yourself who are they really affecting? The fact that they decide to maintain a limited income, live in an impoverished neighborhood, and continue to deprive themselves of the abundance life has to offer is their decision; which I will discuss in the next blog.
